About the Performer

Avijit Kundu is a Physics and Mathematics teacher by profession and a passionate classical dance practitioner by heart. Beginning his dance journey later in life, he overcame social barriers to pursue his passion. Trained under Guru Dr. Mahua Mukhopadhyay in Gaudiya Nritya and Guru Smt. Nandini Ghoshal in Odissi, he continued his learning in Hyderabad under Smt. Preeti Mohapatra and Smt. Asha Kumari. Avijit has performed at many prestigious platforms such as Pratibha Chayan Utsav (Shantiniketan), Navodit Festival (Jamshedpur), Nataraj Nrityotsav (Vishakhapatnam), World Dance Day (Hyderabad), and Theatre Olympiad (Cuttack). He is also the author of the book “Nacher Chhele (Men Don’t Dance),” chronicling his personal journey of breaking stereotypes through dance.
