About the Performer

Smt. Shruti Gopal, Artistic Director of Upadhye School of Dance, is a disciple of Natyarani Shantala awardee Smt. Padmini Ramachandran and continues her training under Shri Mavin Khoo. A graded artist of Doordarshan, she has performed at various prestigious festivals with her guru's ensemble 'Natyapriya'. She represented India in the Cultural Exchange Programme to China under the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India, in 2011, and was conferred the title "Aarsha Kala Choodamani" by Swami Dayananda Saraswati in New Jersey, USA, in 2012. Apart from being an integral part of Punyah Dance Company's productions, she has also collaborated with renowned groups such as Shri Vaibhav Arekar's Sankhya Dance Company for the production "And She Spoke."
